I just finisher 100% it on Sunday on steam and it was great! It also has some pretty nice mods if you are into that. Like drops in cups, animation canceling fornfaster combat, new placements of rewards etc. The only kinda annoying thing is the grind for some items, but there are mods to help with it too. Also magic also helps exploring, ignite ovens with fire, freeze bubles or extonguishe fire with bizard, give life to electric things with thunder (Gizmo shop), move down flying platforms with gravity etc. KH2 has faster combat and it's way flashier but tbh, i currently prefere 1s combat. But that might be recency bias tho.

It is but honestly the only reason I don’t like re playing is because of the Tarzan lvl 😅

😅 I just played it again and the only thing about it better than anything else in any aspect is the story

Square Enix needs to bring back the Tarzan Jungle level. The one level that never returned in any of the other Kingdom Hearts games.

if you take disney out of every other game the general story still exists but its intrinsic in 1

Just beat it again for the 13th time. This game is a masterpiece wit great attention to details and exploration that got lost after this game.. this game made you use your head and interact with everything.

Personally, the thing that stood out to me was how much more femininified the female characters look (or however you call it). They don't stand out as much and all have twig arms, so... Yeah, none of these girls are my type. I prefer ones more like Maria or Kanna, because they don't look super girly. I don't mind girly characters at all and I feel there should be some. But giving skirts as their uniforms just kinda overdid it for me since before they actually looked like some sort of military uniform... 😅

I’ve always loved 1 the most as a whole packaged the blend of FF, Disney, and unique characters was handled the best here. The world building was great, other than lack of NPCs around. I’ll take finding instructions for chemistry experiments, lighting a fireplace, and other neat touches scattered around over NPCs who don’t really add much. Magic is my favorite here too: I hate the recharging MP bar. I like how combat feels. It makes sense to be more stiff and purposeful when Sora is on his first adventure. Plus he gets skills that make it smoother over time. For me the gameplay later is good and fun obviously but I just didn’t click with it as much. I recently went back because Steam, but chose to bounce back to PS3 for trophies and beat it on Proud, and then bounced to the PS4 version to finish the platinum there (Gummi ship is why I did that don’t feel like doing allllll those right now on pS3.) and I want to hop back on PC and finish again because it’s just such a good game.

While I love kh1 , to me kh2 is the best in the series

KH1 has heartfelt moments that actually make it feel like it stands along with the Disney renaissance movies. They try this in future games, but it just falls flat most of the time. Also, I personally preferred when the combat was more grounded. I know people love the floaty aerial combat of KH2, but it was just never my thing.

KH1 beat my ass when I was a Kid. All the Superbosses was tough as fuck. Kurt Sisa, Ice Titan and Sephiroth gave me nightmares.

The heartless get more Gravitas in this game. They are legitimately a world ending force that, at some times, feels overwhelming to fight.

I think some of their other consoles have surpassed it for me personally, there's no denying the DS's library is amazing! And as someone whom grew up in then height of the PSone and N64, I treasure that the system kept both the graphical and game design sensibilities of the era alive just a bit longer! My only gripe is there hasn't ever really been a great way to play the system on a TV (my preferred way to game) and so many DS and 3DS games are stuck on the consoles simply because most modern platforms don't have a practical way to implement the console's signature features

I appreciate hearing other people recognize how excellent iX2's boss fights were in spite of all of its various failings in other aspects. Going through Hard Mode really made me recognize how tightly designed each encounter is. Even Ace, who initially gave me hell on Hard because of his overwhelming speed, were a joy to learn once I started to pick up on how they compensated for his speed by making him use most of his attacks in a rigid pattern. It's still quite tough to get down due to the unrelenting pace of the fight, of course, but it shows that Inti had enough forethought to know that they could have created a monster if they carelessly jacked up the speed of a boss that's already based around speed without taking precautions that serve to make the fight more digestible even at that higher speed setting.

I appreciated how simple the story was in comparison to the rest of the series. 1 almost feels like an entirely different game to what came afterwards

I bought a ps2(the fat 1) just so i can play my fav childhood games. Granturismo 4, midnight club 2, and Kingdom Hearts 1. 💕 😅

I am more a turn based rpg guy, but im looking to get into this series and will try to take your words to heart. Tho i really need to try Tales of Phantasia just to hear the music of Lake on Ymir. I wont be bothered playing older games since i did finish Suikoden 1 and am busy playing Breath of Fire 1 on Switch. Thank you for the video

I'm a bit surprised to see the unanimous distaste for iX2 in the comments. The Razor Wheel were certainly not the most interesting of mechanics, but I personally loved the challenge that the hard mode brought to the table and thought it was neat that the game integrated the mode into the story (Even if said story doesn't really get anything done until the end, just like iX1).

Just got done playing it last night on the Steam release. The magic is starting to wear off a little on my seventh play through, but I will not deny that it is still the goat.

Kingdom Hearts 1 has a unique feel conpared to the rest of the series. The dialogue, the combat, the Disney world's importance. It has a unique spin and feel for a post apocalyptic setting that would absolutely fit into a Disney movie. That scene at the end of Traverse Town's first visit where all the Disney villains are gathered around a table discussing what to do about Sora, Donald and Goofy. One of the best scenes in the franchise to this day.

I shall continue to sleep on KH1 (i do NOT like KH1)

Reliving the nostalgia as I play Final Mix from Steam. Yes, I’m playing on regular mode, and it does seem a bit easier playing it now rather than when I first played it in college, but I’m definitely enjoying the story. It all makes me feel like a kid again. (I watched my sibling play it when the second one came out when we were in junior high, but I never got used to the mechanics until I played Birth by Sleep in sophomore year of college.)

I love the first game. It felt a lot more focused. I also love the ps3 final mix version

I never played KH as a kid, so I just started the series. KH1 on Proud was brutal. I slowly came to despise the game because of how frustrating it was. But looking back since I beat it, KH1 is a fun game with cool ideas, great music, and interesting characters. I'm now on KH2, and I'm loving it.

Don't forget the inventiveness in the levels. There were environmental puzzles everywhere. It genuinely blows people's minds when they first learn they can freeze the bubbles in Hollow Bastion.
